What's stopping us?
Shopping for new trainers, infinite scrolling through shorts, and low budget, empty television keeps us suitably entertained and cooly distant from the reality facing the world. We would rather watch another episode of brain sludge than face up to the enormous challenge of overthrowing the corrupt elite.
The change is within our grasp. We do live in a declining democracy but it is not yet departed. If we force the super rich to pay their fair share instead of buying up the rest of humanity and earth's resources, then we can rollback some of the inequality. Do not be fooled that these people will give away their wealth before they die. They should never have become multi-billionaires in the first place and could not have if they had paid the same taxes as the rest of us, while they whizz around in their private jets.
This is not a question of saving enough for your next vacation. This will decide whether your children will be able to live anywhere except a slum and if there will even be a planet to inhabit at all.
